Highland Dancers

We are continually striving to improve the fit of our

Highland Dance range and will gradually phase in

shoes with in-built Shock Absorbers at the forefoot

area only, leaving the shoe to fit snugly round the

heel. In addition we are now lining the shoes with a

thin suede top-piece, replacing the current leather

Scottish Country Dancing and Highland Dancing Shoes

St Andrews Shoemakers Ltd manufacture the world-famous 'James Senior' Scottish Country and Highland Dance shoes including Ghillies, Pumps, Jig and Jazz shoes in addition to dance accessories. We are the ONLY manufacturer and distributor of James Senior dance shoes and we are not associated with any other dance shoe manufacturer - please be aware of imitations.

Manufactured in the finest high quality calf leather produced in our own tannery, James Senior dance shoes are world leaders in both Scottish Country and Highland Dance shoes with the shoes feeling like a second skin around your feet. St Andrews Shoemakers Ltd was the first manufacturer to develop the concept of an in-built Shock Absorber in a dance shoe back in 2003. Having trialled a range of products over the years and with its proven track record of benefits Poron is the Shock Absorber of choice and is now standard in all of our styles today.

St Andrews Shoemakers Ltd enjoys a long-standing affiliation with the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS). For 16 years the company has provided a comprehensive service to the annual Summer & Winter Schools in St Andrews and Pitlochry, attended by Scottish Country dancers world-wide, where the company benefits from feedback from dancers who after-all are the true experts in a good-fitting shoe. St Andrews Shoemakers Ltd has many long-standing relationships with Highland Dance Schools at home and abroad and we continue to listen to suggestions for improving our dance shoes, as quality control and customer satisfaction are vitally important to us.

The use of high quality fine leathers and the original James Senior patterns and lasts, together with Linda & Tom Struthers’ vast experience as dancers themselves, we have a truly winning combination.
